  • Recurring, not one-time

Your share is computed on every invoice the client pays for the first 12 months after you introduce them, and pays out automatically. You watch it accrue in your partner dashboard in real time.

  • We carry the billing and the risk of delivery

We carry billing, refunds, sales tax, and service liability as the merchant of record, so you are not underwriting the service you recommend.

  • Nothing to buy or stock

Joining is free and delivery is remote-first, with no inventory for you to carry. When a client needs onsite help, our team handles it under their plan within our North Carolina service area.

Why partner with us

Why the program fits an accounting practice

62% of accounting professionals say clients look to them for technology management, the top request they get outside of finance.

You see the risk before anyone else does

You see the books, the payment workflows, and who has access to what. When a client moves money by email or shares one login across the office, you are often the first advisor to notice.

A referral that protects your own work

Your clients send you financial records every month. A client on a secure, monitored environment is a client whose data reaches you intact, and whose books are less likely to be disrupted by an incident.

No time taken away from billable work

You make the introduction; we run the conversation, the onboarding, and the support. There is nothing for your staff to learn, stock, or maintain, and no quotas.

Your professional rules come first

If your professional or independence rules bar compensation for a client, keep that client out of the program: do not register them or send them your partner link. Your obligations set the terms, not ours.

No sales script required

Where the conversation already comes up

  • A client who lost money to a fake invoice or a changed wire instruction
  • Year-end, when a client asks which technology costs are worth keeping
  • A client buying, selling, or growing a business and asking what to check first
  • A client whose cyber-insurance application asks questions they cannot answer

Check your professional obligations

Rules on referral fees and commissions for accountants vary by client type and by state. Read the FAQ below, confirm with your state board or your own counsel, and keep any client you cannot be compensated for out of the program. We are not your ethics adviser, and nothing here is professional advice. The Preferred Plans are business services; delivery is remote-first, and onsite support at Professional and above is limited to our North Carolina service area.

How do I earn money, and when do I get paid?
You earn a revenue share on every invoice a client you introduced pays Preferred Data Corporation during the first 12 months after you introduce them, as set by your partner agreement. It is computed automatically per invoice, it accrues in your partner dashboard in real time, and payouts run on a regular schedule. Applying and joining are free. Program terms are shared during onboarding.
Can a CPA accept a referral fee for introducing a client?
It depends on the client and the state. In North Carolina, the State Board rule on commissions (21 NCAC 08N .0303) bars a CPA from taking a commission for a client whose financial statements the firm audits or reviews, compiles for third-party use without disclosing a lack of independence, or whose prospective financial information it examines, during the engagement and the period the statements cover. For any permitted commission or referral fee, the client must be told in advance and given a written disclosure within ten business days. Other states and the AICPA Code set their own rules, so confirm yours with your board before accepting compensation.
Can I introduce a client without taking any compensation?
Yes, as a plain introduction outside the program. Do not register the client or send them your partner link; call us instead and we will take it from there. Nothing is attributed to your partner account, so nothing is paid, and the client receives exactly the same service. A per-client compensation choice inside the portal is not available yet.
Will you need access to my firm systems or my client files?
No. The program never touches your practice systems or your client files. We work directly with the client you introduced, under their own agreement with us.
Who does the technical work and answers the support calls?
We do. Our team handles the sales conversation if you want us to, the onboarding, the helpdesk, monitoring, backups, and 24/7 security operations. You make the introduction and keep the relationship; you are never the one taking a support call or responding to a security incident.
Who carries billing, refunds, taxes, and liability?
We do. We carry billing, refunds, sales tax, and service liability as the merchant of record. You do not invoice a client for our services or carry the risk of delivering them.
